- Blog updates received late in the evening or overnight will be posted the following day.
- Blog updates received on weekends may not be posted until Monday.
- Due to many factors such as internet accessibility, program staff aren’t always able to send photos, so some blog posts may contain text only.

BLOG POST FOR JUNE 19
Today was the first day of our Peruvian adventure! Most of the students arrived in Cusco this morning and afternoon. We had lunch at the hotel and then took a walk around the famous Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Some people got ice cream, others took a photo next to a cuy (guinea pig) mascot! There was a big live concert in the square, with lots of people and local music on a giant stage. After that, we exchanged dollars for soles to prepare to go to the market tomorrow, and then went back to the hotel for dinner. Following dinner, we played some games, and then went back to the square at night and saw lots of people, music and street food. The city celebrates Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) every day this week! We can’t wait for the last students to join us tomorrow.
BLOG POST FOR JUNE 20
Hi everyone! I’m Mia and this is what we did for Day 2! We started our day at breakfast around 9AM, and met Alex, who joined us in the middle of the night! We went to one of the big Peruvian markets where some of us bought different trinkets like bracelets, keychains, license plates, etc! Then we went back to home base and we found Reese and Addie, meaning that we finally had our full program group! Then we had lunch and siesta time (break time). We then had two doctors come in to do some orientation for our medical clinics! We learned that we will be doing dentistry, helping with charts, taking vitals, and shadowing doctors. Then we played Mafia together and finally we ended the day with dinner!
Adios,
Mia

Hi guys it’s Cole and Connor! Today we travelled to the Urabamba River. While we were there we did some white water rafting, it was an amazing and unforgettable experience. After white water rafting we were all very cold so we headed straight to the sauna. We then had a great lunch that started with quinoa soup and was followed with rice, potatoes and beats, and chicken that was cooked over a wood burning fireplace. We went back to home base, had some dinner which was chicken, potatoes, lasagna, and strawberry pancakes. Finally, some went to get ice cream and others played card games.
BLOG POST FOR JUNE 26
Today started with an early wake up before heading to the clinic on beautiful scenic drive of the Peruvian mountains. We spent the day helping out, learning from the healthcare staff, and asking lots of questions to better understand how everything works. Midway through we were able to enjoy an awesome lunch filled with chicken, potatoes, salad, and cookies for dessert. After the clinic, we got to play an epic volleyball game with some local school kids. Once we got back, we had a very uplifting and motivating mentorship session before we had a lovely dinner. It was super fun and was the perfect way to end the day.
