Community Service
Embrace the spirit of giving back as you adapt to Maui’s ever-changing needs. While this program will evolve to address island challenges, your willingness to make a meaningful difference will leave a lasting impact and create unforgettable memories. Potential projects include removing invasive plant species, participating in land management and indigenous plant workshops and collaborating with active local community leaders on a variety of inspiring community projects.
Hands-on Learning
You’ll hear straight from the experts about issues affecting local populations such as climate change, indigenous land rights and conservation of endemic species. Learn about the preservation and history of plant species important to Hawaii and its precious ecosystem. You’ll also learn about customs such as hula dancing and lei-making. You may even have a chance to harvest the materials to make your own lei!
Finally, finish your amazing time in Hawaii with a traditional Polynesian Luau where you will taste some of the most famous dishes of Hawaii and enjoy an evening of dancing and storytelling.
Adventure
Visit the renowned Maui Ocean Center, where you’ll get an up-close look at the vibrant marine life that calls Hawaii home. Explore exhibits that highlight the unique ecosystems of the Pacific Ocean and learn about conservation efforts to protect these vital habitats.
With more than 30 miles of beaches to choose from, the island is the perfect place to try your hand at surfing or observe brightly colored fish while snorkeling. Take in Hawaii’s breathtaking landscape and natural beauty from a new perspective: from the water, while you enjoy a catamaran ride on the deep blue Pacific. Then cool off with a cup of shave ice, a favorite island treat.
Lodging
