SINGAPORE & MALAYSIA
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS & CULTURAL DISCOVERY
Explore the intersection of technology, innovation and business on a 12-day journey through Singapore and Malaysia.
Program Overview
Journey on a 12-day pre-college adventure through two of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic and interconnected economies: Singapore and Malaysia. Designed for high school students interested in STEM, global business, engineering and supply chain logistics, this immersive program examines how international trade, advanced manufacturing and technological innovation converge across borders. Beginning in Singapore, a global powerhouse of finance, trade and smart-city urban planning where our student travelers tour high-tech manufacturing hubs, explore automated robotics and analyze how global supply chains operate.
Crossing into Malaysia, expand your perspective by exploring cross-border entrepreneurship, regional economic development and university pathways in Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. Compare Singapore’s hyper-modern infrastructure with Malaysia’s blend of heritage enterprise and emerging startup ecosystems. Beyond site visits and professional engagements, immerse yourself in the rich multicultural heritage of both nations, from Singapore’s iconic hawker stalls and Gardens by the Bay to traditional Malaysian craftsmanship and historic urban districts.
On GLA’s Singapore & Malaysia: International Business & Cultural Discovery program you will:
- Tour advanced manufacturing and automotive innovation centers like Hyundai Motor Group and GD Precision to see precision engineering and robotics in action
- Explore Singapore’s financial and trade corridor at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Singapore Maritime Gallery, and Central Business District to analyze global supply chains
- Cross the border into Malaysia to study regional development, cross-border commerce, and university innovation in Johor Bahru
- Participate in a hands-on pewter craftsmanship workshop at the historic Royal Selangor Visitor Centre in Kuala Lumpur to discover how heritage enterprise meets modern industry
- Discover world-class urban sustainability and architecture at Singapore City Gallery, Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa Island
- Immerse yourself in the vibrant multicultural communities and world-famous culinary traditions of Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Gelam and local hawker centers

“This was the 2nd GLA program for our daughter so we were already familiar with how great a GLA program can be. But this one far surpassed all our expectations. Our daughter had a once in a lifetime trip and has come home so full of life, exuberance, and positivity. She is just beaming! She misses all her new friends dearly and we know this trip will forever hold a special place in her heart. If she could go back tomorrow, she would be the first one on the plane.”
