THE SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE

While this program crosses between England and Scotland and places an emphasis on travel, at the heart of every GLA program is always some form of meaningful community service. On this program you will likely lend a hand to advocacy projects that make a difference, with a focus on climate change. This program includes 10 total service hours. Depending on the needs of the community upon our arrival, your project may vary. This may take the form of environmental advocacy project, a physical service project or helping to support a climate change initiative. Additionally, as part of this experience, you will join a session on Climate Talks, a series of panel discussions, Q&A sessions and events exploring the problems caused by the climate crisis.

Begin your journey in London, England’s capital city and your gateway to the rest of Great Britain. Take in world-famous London city views on a cruise up the River Thames, cross London bridge to take photos of Tower Bridge and catch glimpses of Buckingham Palace and St. Paul’s Cathedral along the way. Stop in Windsor, home of Queen Elizabeth and the birthplace of the Magna Carta. Visit Stonehenge and its mysterious stone formations. Feel the magic of Oxford, where Tolkien penned his most famous works, and travel onward to Stratford-upon-Avon, William Shakespeare’s old stomping grounds. You’ll walk the medieval cobblestone streets of the northern towns of York and Nottingham. Learn the basics of archery and shoot some arrows like Robin Hood with the aid of a local instructor. Cross into Scotland to explore spectacular Edinburgh and St. Andrews. Wrap up your program in Stirling, home of the famous battle depicted in the film Braveheart, before saying your goodbyes.
